Update on our Financial Support
Thank you for taking the time to see how our financial support level is doing. We know if you've come this far you care for us and our ministry, and we're thankful for that.
As faith-based missionaries with ABWE, we completely rely on God to provide the necessary funds and provisions that we need to carry out our ministry. This includes every aspect of our lives, from personal living expenses to travel funds for overseas trips to any equipment that we need such as a personal computer or camera. We do not receive any salary or funding from ABWE (for clarity, the organization processes donations for our ministry, but does not add to them), nor have we for our entire missionary career.
For six years now God has provided through the donations of His people either through an organized church or as families & individuals. It has been truly unbelievable how He has provided for us, and continues to provide, month after month, since we began our ministry six years ago. We wholeheartedly trust in the promise of Matthew 6:33 that says "Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well." We have been blessed beyond measure and have never had to put off doing something that our ministry needed because we were lacking funds. Nor did we have to let our needs be known! The funds were always there when we needed them. We praise God who has provided us with an amazing base of faithful supporters. We thank many of you for your faithfulness to Him and us.
There have been some changes, though...Not in our support level, that actually has stayed relatively level. Again, thank you to our faithful supporters! Missouri was a much lower cost of living area for us, though, and while we were there we were sufficiently meeting our family and ministry financial needs. Now that we have moved to Pennsylvania and know our actual expenses here, our cost of living is now a bit higher than what it was in Missouri. For example, our property taxes that were once about $900 in Missouri are now over $2000 in Pennsylvania for a comparable house. And with the increases in fuel costs, utilities and general inflation over the past six years, our expenses, especially for overseas airplane tickets, have gone up accordingly.
So, we're not in any dire straights or anything (thank you again, faithful supporters!), but we find that we are needing to raise about $500 more of regular monthly support before June of 2009 to offset these increases in our expenses. We are praying that five churches or individuals will begin supporting our ministry at $100 per month. Would you pray about whether you might be able to join our support team and equip us to equip the church-planting missionaries that we serve? What a beautiful picture of the Body of Christ, as Ephesians 4:16 says "as each part does its work." And we really mean that about praying about it...we know there are many valid ministries out there that are just as deserving of your support, and may need it more than we do! We truly desire our supporters to be following the leading of the Holy Spirit and not responding to anything that Fred or Jennifer are saying. But we do commit to you to be as good of stewards as we can to use your investments wisely, and pray that our previous five years are an example to you of that. May God bless you with clarity as you seek His will.
